I moved my hammer colony out of his spot today to clean behind him and noticed this...

Sorry if it's too blue. My halides don't come on until 12. I tried the best I could to edit it in photoshop express. I'm interested in knowing what this is. My uninformed guess would be a sponge of some sort. Let me know what you think, if you've had it before, and if it's beneficial in anyways.

(This rock was bleached in the sun and clear of pests before being introduced into this system 6 months ago.)

That's a sponge. Good guy, but for its sake you should put the hammer back.
 
Already did so, just was to dust the rock behind him. And to take the picture. Anyhow, that confirms my guess. Thanks
