Crosshatch Trigger Pair

After months of rumination, I've decided to do a full teardown of my Red Sea Reefer 450 and reboot it as an SPS dominate tank. To do so, I need to seriously reduce my bioload, so I am going to have to part with about half of my livestock. It's with a heavy heart that I am deciding to sell my crosshatch trigger pair.

They are pretty much full grown, quarantined for a month prior to being put in my system, so no parasites. They both eat just about anything and have very healthy appetites, primarily pellets and hikari freeze dried krill, will also eat mysis. The male is pretty yellow under normal light and the female is a darker grey. Male is slightly larger than the female, but both come in around 9-10".

They are currently living in a heavily stocked 100 gallon and realistically need a much larger home. I'd prefer to sell them locally if possible (SoCal) to avoid the costs and pitfalls of shipping (would be a heavy box with a lot of water).

I'm also selling the clowns and the big mertensii and sebae nems, but probably already have a buyer lined up.

I'm looking for $800 for the triggers, I'll consider shipping if I can't find a local buyer.

Thanks! They are definitely one of my favorites. If I had the money to upgrade to something bigger than a 180, I'd totally keep them.

I lost my male after the move across the state in June and the female has not recovered entirely. That’s a pretty good price for the pair. I hope you find a good home for them. They would be great in my 10’ 405, but I am in Florida...

That's a bummer man. You drive with them? I'll keep you in mind if I can't find someone who can pick them up local. My buddy ships anemones all the time, so shipping isn't impossible, just remember getting them at the airport in about 5 gallons of water each. Box was heavy and wet.

Bacterial infection post-move. The stress of the move must’ve made them susceptible. I spoke to a few vets and everyone I could talk to about it and general consensus was bacterial infection of the jaw. I tried antibiotic treatment and tube feeding but was unsuccessful. The female made it through but got a horrible case of pop eye during treatment and has basically lost the eye since. She barely eats and just seems miserable.

That sucks, generally speaking they are very sturdy fish. Mine have had scrapes and minor infections in the past from playing a little rough or stealing food from nems, but never that severe and they always recover in a few days. The male definitely asserts his dominance toward the rest of the tank, but never worse than a nipped fin and honestly, I doubt it would be much of an issue in a much larger tank.

What kind of clowns are those?

Sea & Reef Spotcinctus clowns. They’re a variation of the Red Sea Two Band. Ton of personality, but they get pretty big and are a bit more aggressive than Ocellaris and Perculas. Only nem they wouldn’t host for me were H. Mags. Super fond of those guys too, but my bio-load is way too high.
