Have a pair coming tomorrow that will going into QT. Planning on doing Prazipro and CP. Anything special for this species of fish I need to be aware of? I tried to do some searching but didn't find anything specific.

IME; triggers respond well to both medications: Prazipro & CP. Just use them separately, don't combine the two.

I've had no issues with triggers and prazi, but I haven't used CP on them. Coppersafe has done well for me, but CP is a much better way to go.

Thanks! They arrived this morning and are now in QT. They are gorgeous fish.

The male punctured his plastic bag by two layers and was down to maybe 2-3 inches of water which just barely covered his body. The bags had kind of collapsed on him and he barely had room to move. Freaked me at out first but he was still full of energy and looked OK. I floated both bags in the sump which was fun since I had to remove a ton of water given the bag sizes and tiny tank size. Checked salinity to find it was 1.21 vs the 1.25 that I thought it would come at after reading various threads on Divers Den. So I quickly worked to lower salinity while the bags floated. The female was very calm and just hung out in her bag...the male on the other hand was crazy the hole time trying desperately to get out of the bag. Again making me a little worried since he didn't have a lot of water left and was using up his oxygen. Once in the tank the female swam around a bit where the male quickly went down and hid between the wall and a PVC pipe where he still is now. The female has made one of the PVC pipes her cave and goes in and out of it. She seems to check on the male from time to time which is cool. Got the female to eat a cube of mysis this evening. Turned off the lights in the room and left them in there.

Hopefully the male will come around tomorrow so I can get him some food and look to start treatment on full bellies after a day of eating.

Anyone know if Prazipro can cause an ammonia test to show strange readings? I put the Prazipro in 4 days ago and yesterday I thought my ammonia badge looked like I was showing some ammonia so I did another test. I have an API test kit that's giving off a blue color that doesn't really match anything on the chart. The closest it's coming to is 2.0 which would be pretty high. I tested the source water and it's showing 0 and I also tested the DT which also shows 0. The date on the kit's expiration is in 2022.

I thought the ammonia might have been due to a little left over shrimp I found in there that the fish didn't eat. So I did a 50% water change last night. Tested again this AM and it's still showing an almost blue color when mixed in.

The fish seem fine and both ate last night before the water change.

I originally seeded the tank with Dr. Tims and a sponge in the HOB and let it sit for about 48 hours. The fish were in the tank for about 48 hours before I added the medicine and ammonia showed 0 the whole time.

Could the medicine be throwing off my test or do I need to do some evasive maneuvers here.

Its known that medication will mess up the ammonia test kits. Prazipro should not affect the biological bacteria, just in case add ammonia reducers like seachem prime.

Unfortunately, sometimes Prazipro + ammonia reducer = QT full of dead fish.

This doesn't happen every time and the exact reasons are unclear for the negative interaction. Just anecdotal at this point in time.

Definitely do not want that! At this point I'm almost done with the first treatment of Prazipro so I have one more to do then CP. I guess I just fly blind while the meds are in and my tests aren't working.

Its probably from prazipro itself, as usually it will stress fish and cause them to stop eating.
According to Hikari: "Any water used should first be conditioned with ULTIMATE or a combination of Liquid Buffered ClorAm-X and Stress-X to remove ammonia, chlorine and chloramines." Which is the company's ammonia reducer/chlorime remover. So definitely no risk in that.

I did try PraziPro and seachem prime, actually today I finished the first dose of prazipro for the PBT in TTM and I keep adding prime since there is no filtration. As expected, the fish appetite was reduced and it was stressed, but it was only for 24 hours, so hopefully no long term effect.

Triggers are about 48 hours into the second treatment of Prazipro so they've been in QT for about a week and a half. Both eating, swimming normal and seem fine. While watching them this afternoon I noticed what looks like a gray/white spot on the female's bottom fin. I'm not sure if this is just a cut trying to heal or if it's something else. I believe this is new as I don't recall seeing it any of the other times I've been watching them.

What do you all think? Ignore the white water spots on the glass and a piece of krill floating by the tail...the body of the fish do not have any visible spots on them. Just this one spot on the female's fin as of now.

^^ Agreed, too big to be ich or velvet. You don't need to worry about it, keep quarantining normally, just make sure to keep your parameters in check.

That doesn't look like typical lympho. Is it smooth looking and on top of the fin or is it bumpy and look to be part of the skin?

I'll have to take another look in the morning. I think it looks smooth from afar but up close its kind of bumby looking. It kind of looks like it's under a layer of skin. It's hard to see due to her always moving it though!!

What do you think it could it be, if not Lymphocystis?

possibly a tumor or abscess.

Whatever it was has now gone away. The area of the fin is very mildly tattered still but I can't see any lump or mass on it anymore.

They're on day 6 of CP and seem to be doing even better now. I thought they were fine to start but now they are much more active and eating even more. They're now also comfortable with me coming up to the glass and have figured out I = food. So looking good!
