Had these 2 guys in my 20 gallon for over a month. Everything seems to be fine, water tests are good. Still good amount of algae growth for them to eat on. I noticed water temperature was a little warm this afternoon after I saw 1 of them on their back. Adjusted the heater and now the temp is 77. Just found the other one on his back too. They are still alive and I put them back on my live rock.

Is this normal? I know Ceriths you have to flip them or they will die but these are big like turbos so not sure if they can get back on their own and this is the first time I noticed?

Thanks!

Astraea snails cannot right themselves, but trochus snails can. Ceriths are more auger-like and live in the sand and crawl on the rocks and glass. Are you sure they are turbos? Post a pic and someone will surely ID them or look in the invert ID thread.

1 on top left and one on lower right. I am positive they are Crown Tops. I tried to research but can't find these specifically but I believe they are the Astraea family.

I just found it strange that I have never seen either 1 upside down and then saw both of them at different times like that today.

Look up astrea undoza. They appear to be top crown snails to me. I haven't found much tank info on them.

I had them some years ago. I know they are native to the California coast down through Mexico so they supposedly do better in cooler than typical temps than most of us keep our reef tanks. They are a species that can't flip themselves over so they need an assist. I don't remember mine being adversely affected by my tank temp though.
