CR's Frag Shack

I'm not gonna lie, I'm kinda jealous of the space! Looks great!
Wow, this is amazing! Great attention to details on this build out! Very jealous!
Thanks. It’s been a journey. A long journey. I’m ready to reach the final destination!!!

Primer… Paint… POWER!

Just went through your entire thread. The shack was awesome, this is going to be amazing.
Thanks... hopefully I can get to the tank setups soon. That's what people really want to see. lol

Fantastic concept. Fantastic start. Only thing that jumps out at me is the door size. What if you want a bigger tank that won’t fit thru the doors? Some time in the future I mean.

Thanks for looking out.... It's a standard 36" door. Not planning on going any wider than that. The main display will be a 72x30x25 235g Planet Aquarium Mega Matrix. With some luck it'll be at my LFS in the next week or two. My grow out tanks will be lowboys and maybe a couple 115g hydro troughs, both will easily fit.

No problem. It just jumped out at me after several probs I have had moving tanks in the past. My fish room and display tank are both in our walk out basement accessed by double doors. They sure made moving easier.
I have a new fish room for both freshwater and saltwater filtration, sink, etc the whole shebang and I am green with envy over your “shack”. Looks awesome!

Sooooo? How goes the shack? Any update available?
Whew… life’s been hectic lately! Mostly good though lol. We finally got the house finished and moved and settled in. Then the holidays and work and such have just kept me super busy… I have made progress but still have a ton of work to do. As with anything I’ve had a setback or two. The biggest being when I tried using a concrete bonding primer I failed to etch the concrete first…. DOH. Most of it ended up peeling up like a big piece of rubber cement . It was a freaking mess then I had to rent a floor sander with 32 grit sandpaper to get the rest up…

After sanding the floor I did a chemical etch and then used a concrete cleaner to prep the floor. Instead of painting or staining or putting down an epoxy coat I used a concrete waterproofer. The draw back is the floor looks like plain ole concrete, but water beads up like a champ! Could have saved a lot of back breaking work and headache just doing that in the first place! (Lesson learned :p)

On a more positive note the tank and sump arrived a few weeks ago! Went with a Trigger Sapphire CR44. Honestly I love the sump but it eats up a ton of room and I probably could have gone with a 39”

Project is looking good! The floor thing is a bummer but looks like you moved right thru it, looks good now. Tank is really nice and the sump is super nice, totally jealous! Good luck moving forward.

235 is up and running. Cycle is in full effect so hopefully I can start slowly adding fish in the next few weeks. The scape is somewhat of a rock pile but it has some cool little caves and tunnels. I may rearrange it a little to make more of a two island scape.

FINALLY got some lowboys in. Local availability has been been brutal. Hopefully I can get some stands built ASAP so I plumb all these thing and get some lights hung.

Still lots of work and organizing to do, but maybe a few long weekends and late nights and I can make some progress.

60” aquatic life hybrid came in. It’s just sitting on the top for now. Have some radion G4 pros to put in it then I can hang it from the ceiling… then on to the next project!

This lets you see the see the rock pile a little better…
