So I’m in the process of upgrading to a 48x30x24 tank with a 36x18 Tideline sump. I plan on transferring all my live rock but several pieces I’d like to add to my sump to keep the bacteria colony that’s been established plus some have mushrooms I don’t want to add to my display. My question is would breaking the pieces of LR to golf ball/tennis ball sizes cause any negative to my bacteria? I won’t have room in my sump for the pieces I want to add in there so I was wondering if crushing them to rubble will be the same thing. I was thinking of plumbing a secondary sump to my main sump just to store LR but don’t really want to take up more space in my stand. Any ideas or advice? Thanks

hi, nope will not hurt a thing, will actually create more surface area.
enjoy the new tank.

Awesome thanks a lot! Thanks I was going forward a longer tank but when I saw 30” compared to 24” depth it’s crazy how much bigger it looks. I feel 18, 20, 24” they all look relatively the same. 30 stands out though - I could imagine 36 or 48” deep! Even in pictures you don’t get a good idea of how deep it looks than in person
