So I have heard this....

That you can crush a zoa between two plugs and basically squish all the guts out on two plugs and by doing this the two plugs will be covered in polyps in no time. Has anyone ever done this? Does it work?

Maybe on somthing like texas trash : ) I would be scared to do it on anything high end

I sure wouldn't do that.

Just place the plugs next to the zoas and wait. Eventually they'll encrust.

There are no shortcuts in this hobby.

No that won't work if you really crush it!

I think this is probably what they were talking about. You can place a polyp between two plugs and they will spread to each plug. Crushing the guts out will only spread it into the tank as pollution when it dies.

And from my understanding polyps really don't have "guts"

Don't do that unless you want dead polyps. And if you do do this make sure to wear PPE before messing with zoa's. it may work but never heard of it. Sounds like killing coral to me

That's what I thought. They were not referring to putting a plug. I clarified that. They literally said to squish the polyp in between two plugs and scrape it till it is ground up on the two plugs. I thought it sounded a little off

Yeah.... I probably wouldn't listen to much they say in the future.

Mushrooms probably wouldn't even be able to handle that and I have seen people put them in blenders...

Never heard of that. If zoas don't get light or flow they will definitely die so putting 2 plugs together will starve them of both. I put a file fish one time in my tank so he could eat aptasias and when he ate them all he went for some very expesive zoas and he ate them all the way to the base and to my surprise a month down the line the stump of 1 single polyp started growing zoas all over the place turning one stump into 12 bowsers lol. The other ones he ate did the same. It's like if the fish knew how much to eat without killing the zoa. I took him out soon after but please don't crush zoas you will just waste $$$ and a coral.
