Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to the saltwater game. So heres my question. Is there a way to crush crushed coral sand to make it into a finer grain sand? My girlfriend says I should throw it in the blender. I bought 100lbs of crushed coral sand online but it's not as fine as I had imagined it would be. Anyone ever try to do this? Thanks in advance!

a really big mortar and pestal? lol

I would think any two hard surfaces and a force to drive it would work.
For example...I used to crush soda cans four at a time with a metal fence post with the square platform welded on the bottom of it.

Same principals but I'd put the crushed coral in some sort of a cloth bag that can hold up to wear and tear.

That's my .02

keep in mind the amount of flow you will have in your tank. I regret not getting slightly larger sand as it sometimes gets moved onto the rockwork from fish/powerheads.

If you are setting up a ca reactor just use the crushed coral as reactor media. you can use crushed coral it's just that during wc you will need to vacuum the crushed coral
