So I'm trying to get my tank cleaned up. What is the best way to get my water crystal clear. My skimmer is working great, sump with refugium seem ok no chaeto. I have a pre filter in the over flow and water tests are great water changes every 2 weeks. Just seems like there is always debris floating around in the tank. I see all these pictures of tanks and the water is beautiful. Would charcoal help or maybe a uv sterilizer? Any suggestions.

Do you have a filter sock for your drain into the sump? If so, you may also consider a media reactor with carbon that would polish your water and remove any coloring.

Filter socks is where most of that crystal clear water comes from as far as floating debris goes. Carbon helps with that a bit more in taking any discoloration out as well as chemical.

Thanks I just have a foam filter in the over flow that catches the debris. I think I need to invest in the reactor.

Carbon and a filter sock clears my water. BRS ROX Carbon is the best around IME. You can start by running it in a media bag. If that is not enough then try out a reactor.

+1 for the filter sock. It's a cheap upgrade and works wonders.

Filter sock, carbon and Ozone for water polishing.

Filter socks remove the free floating detritus.

Carbon takes the yellow or green tint away.

Ozone makes it crystal clear.
