See the private forum to get in on it. No special price, just trying to get enough to qualify for their bulk rate

I'm really surprised there doesn't seem to be more interest in this. Let me just add, for those of you that have not seen my posts in other parts of the forum, I began losing some acros in November for no apparent reason. Everything seemed in order as far as what I could test for except iodine was high. Maybe it was iodine, maybe not. I sent out for a Triton test as acros kept dying. I did a ton of water changes keeping parameters in check hoping to rid my system of whatever was causing this. Certainly no pests.

Triton test revealed zinc 4 times over normal. Also revealed a significant amount of copper in the system. Lost over 40 acro colonies over the month. Ck stag by the way, the original that began to melt, recovered and has already grown back over most of the area that died. I would estimate around 3k$ worth of dead corals.

$50 (OR 41.50 if we get over 12 tests kits) is a small price to pay, to know exactly what is going on in your tank!! Had I taken the test prior, it could have prevented a catastrophic loss.

Just to note, Lps all sps other than acros, ZOA's, etc are all still OK.

Nope. I want to send a sample of fresh made to saltwater to see how it comes out. I should have ordered more kits the first time but I have to order more now. Unfortunately they are not testing after the 19th until after January, so it will be some time before I can do that. My r/o is putting out water with 1 to 2 tds so I doubt that's it.

Keithcorals was dosing c balance at about 4 times the rate I was and probably changing less water than me. My initial thought was that, but his test revealed low zinc and no copper.

Right now I began running cuprasorb in a reactor. It has yet to change color but only 2 days in.

Randy seems to suspect foods as a source. I only feed pe mysis, nls pellets, and live black worms. But a lot of it I guess.

Monti stylos birds nest and zoas all never better BTW. LPs all upset but no die off like the acros.

I hadn't seen your other posts that's horrible :ooh: So did the large water changes start the recovery? You probably checked this already but any hose clamps, mag floats or veggie clip magnets cracked?

A guy on trt a while back was having problems he couldnt figure out and found this. Messed his tank up pretty good.

My results. As you can see iron is low. So no rush magnets. Good thought though. The bulk of the damage could very well be from overdosing iodine which was my original thought. It's hard to tell though because I did so many panic water changes prior to sending out a sample to triton. In retrospect I should have saved some to send before I started changing water but I was focused more on trying to save coral.

Just FYI i know po4 is high, but it's actually about the lowest it's been in a year or so. Still no algae in the display either.

Curious though that it was just the acros that were affected. I'm battling a bit of die-off myself, though seems to be an 'equal opportunity' problem with acros, montis, and stylo affected. I have had periodic die-off in most of my tanks at one time or another and find that once something starts it can be tricky to check it. I've become quite draconian in my reaction. Any colony that shows any sign of dying off gets pulled and fragged immediately.

Curious about the copper though. - but I'd have thought that problematic for all SPS. I did not see your other threads, so presumably you have been inundated with theories, some useful other hairbrained .... But any chance it's a sandbed problem?

Regardless, I would be in for a few tests if you're still looking for other folks.

Monti and stylos never been better. I have a bunch of both. Lost hammers, gold torch, and frogspawn as well but all new aquiries of all those are fine. Same with acans, but acans are coming back around.

The thing that sucks is I'm unsure if I should change water or stop changing. Problem could very well be from new water. Have to send some to triton.

Ron, I can't see copper coming from the sand but I'll have to look into it somehow. But that sand is well over a year old, and some over 2yrs. It is silica sand so it shouldn't leach more than the glass the tank is made of.

As far as the group buy, ca1ore for 3, suicide for 2, does any one else have interests in finding out what trends are beginning in your tank with thousands of dollars of livestock inside?
