Cuc crew

tank has been ammonia 0 nitrites0 nitrates 5 for a week have green algae on rock so add a small cuc crew 10 hermit crabs 1 emerald crab and 4 turbo snails. Put them in last night and by this morning they ate 75% of the algae what should I feed them or just let them salvage the tank some more?

Hermits can be supplemented with any type of fish food. Snails may be ok with what algae is left. Little tank info will help though. How big, how much rock, type of rock, etc.

75 gal 75lb live rock

With that size tank and as little of a cuc as you have. They should probably be fine. There is prob algae on the back of the rocks you can’t see that they can munch on also. Best of all, what you have for a cuc can go a bit of time with limited food and can be kept alive with a little nori rubber banded to a rock if need be.

If you are planning on having fish now would be the time to get them and put them in a QT tank. Once the fish are in the DT the crabs will eat the extra food the fish miss. In the mean time you can feed the crabs before they eat your snails

Thanks starting slow going to add 2 clowns in a few weeks as long as the water stays stable. The crabs are so cool to watch eat there like little machines lol

My lfs has my clowns in qt now, they take care of me because I give them free freshwater plants

Slow is best and hats off to ya for keeping with it. A lot of people do not like crabs, but I love the little guys.
