Hey guys my cycle is pretty much done. My diatoms are starting to recede, but didn't have much to begin with. All parameters are at 0 including nitrates. So I am looking to get some live stock this weekend. I am trying to make this a clown fish tank and maybe a tang. What should I get first? A clean up crew? 2 clown fish? Tang? And what do alot of people do not like crabs? Thanks for your help!

Oh and sorry this is a 54 gallon corner tank, 20 gal L sump 45 pounds live rock 40 pounds live sand

I would add a some invertebrates now, and if everything is testing well in a couple weeks add the clowns. Then after the clowns are doing well add the tang.

Another quick question is I don't see to much visible algae, beside some diatoms that are receding. Is it still wise to get a CUC? Or can I get 2 clown fish first?

You could add the clowns, and they will begin the bioload. Once you see some sign of algae add your CUC. I would just rather lose a couple snails to an amonia spike rather than a pair of clownfish. Your not going to QT your fish first?

I don't have a qt tank but I am going to acclimate them via drip method for 2 hours. Do you think 2 clowns and 2 snails is to much? Reason I'm asking is my LFS is an hour away so I was hoping this Saturday I can pick them up. But I want to do it right and not stress the fish out

two small clowns and two trochus snails should be fine.

+1 Youve got a good size tank and lots of filtration. Its risky adding fish with no QT. If your tank gets ich youll have to get them out and treat in a QT with copper which is hard on the fish, and youd have to go fallow for 76 days. Just consider this before moving forward :)

I would QT the fish for a minimum of 3 weeks before clearing them to go in your DT. 4-6 weeks would be better

Patience is a key in this hobby :D

Thankyou guys for you help! I would love to have a qt tank but space is limited. I will take pics of my new friends this Saturday. First saltwater inhabitants ever!! Lol very exciting
