Does anybody use clean up crew packages and are they worth it? My used setup came with a few useless peppermint shrimp and two hermits so I am in need of some algae control but I'm not sure if it's worth it to pick and choose or buy a package. I did see on one of the BRS 52 weeks videos they stated most packages are way oversize for what you actually need.

Yea, most are oversized and will only help control algae but wont solve the problem. If you want some I would suggest looking at Liveaquaria for some options.

I agree most "packages" are way oversized for what the tanks need. First decide if you are doing snails and crabs, or just snails (crabs sometimes eat the snails when they need a larger shell).
Depending on the size of your tank, and your algae and detritus load, you can add a few of each, and always add more as you go.
