I have a Red Sea Reeter 170. My CUC consists of trochus, cerith, nassarius snails and a couple of emerald crabs. The cerith and nassarius seem to repopulate on their own. My trochus don't appear to do this and eventually die off in about 12 months. Do you replenish your CUC? If so how often? Anything interesting and functional that I should think about adding to my CUC?

Take a look at reefcleaners.org

Tons of info and excellent sizing charts for CUC’s.

John gets all kinds of cool stuff in, you just have to watch and be ready!

Trochus usually live quite a long time, is there something that could be killing them? If I’m losing snails I try to find the source of the problem before adding more

Yeah, I've looked into this. I'm not 100% certain but I'm thinking they may have starved. I started using Vibrant a couple of months ago to clear up a bubble algae issue that the emeralds seemed to ignore. Vibrant did a great job, but also cleaned up lots of other algae as well. I was so busy enjoying an algae free tank that I forgot that algae was food for some of the critters!

I'm going to ease up on Vibrant and hopefully completely ween the tank from it.
