I would add about 10-15 astrea snails for good measure. They love diatoms and they should definitely help get passed your ugly stage!

I think you could double that no problem. If you can, get your hands on some trochus snails. I’ve got 5 in my 20g and they just cruise around 24/7. They eat everything, love them.
