Cupramine and marinepure

Is it known to absorb copper? I am not going take risk, especially in this hobby.

I have no experience using MarinePure.

The only two bio media we have tested that didn't absorb copper (other than a sponge) are Seachem Matrix & Fluval Biomax.

The problem with MarinePure is that there is not enough water flow through the block or plates I've tried when dosing copper. The result was a die off of the bacteria which turned one side of the block/plate into a big green stinky mess. As Humblefish has mentioned, his use of Matrix and I've used Biomax in high flow areas of our HOB filters while dosing copper. Worked great. Have had zero copper absorption and zero problems with ammonia.

I'm currently dosing Cupramine with one of the Brightwell Aquatics " bricks " in the sump, contacted Seachem before doing, it wasn't an issue. These bricks are there to house bacteria as opposed to chemical absorption.
I'm dosing a FOWLR, 18ml of Cupramine was needed to get to 0.5, in theory, currently at 31ml of Cupramine and a copper level of 0.4, Rock and sand will be soaking it up, maybe the brick is taking a little too, l'm on the rise, l'm happy.

Old thread but I thought I would add my experience. I am using the marine pure gems for my QT, I had raised copper to .5 using cupramine and use the hanna checker to test on 4 Sep. I checked copper again on 27 Sep and found that copper was at .3, so I do believe that marine pure does absorb copper as I do not have any other media in the tank or the filter. Just the PVC tee for the fish to hide in.

Interesting......do you know if it leaches back into the water?

Each time I have used Cupramine in my QT with MarinPure, I have had to does alot more to get to therapeutic. I takes me think the MarinePure does absorb copper. For instance I just dosed 40 drops in a 20 gallon long tank over two days to get to therapeutic. Just took a Hanna copper test and I was showing .16ppm........very frustrating

As to whether it leaches back into water? I believe it does. I was running Cuprisorb to get the copper out of one of my QTs and levels kept going back up after it would go down
