I ended up needed 30 drops of cupramine in a 5 gal water change to get the new saltwater to read .55ppm. that sounds like way more than the directions perscribe. Am I off here? I checked w/ a basically new Hanna checker.

Wow that sounds way off. Could something be blocking part of the hole in the lid such that your drops are actually 1/4 the size they’re supposed to be?

This or perhaps the copper checker reagent is bad. Use a Seachem copper test kit and see if it’s in that neighborhood or significantly higher.

next time i'll measure it out in ML to see how much is needed.

I do remember putting in 10 drops to start and took a measurement of the copper and it came out to like .16. did another 10 and i believe it came out to .35ish.

i measured it out this time in ML. 5 gal bucket, aded 1ML of cupramine got me to .61ppm. the bucket was about 1-2 inchs full of water from the top. THis sounds much more inline with what Seachem is recommending.
