Hi,
I have 4 fish in a 55 gal QT - 2 female Bellus Angels, a Flame Hawk, and a very small Kleini butterfly. They have all developed either ick or velvet (I think velvet based on speed of onset, which was less than 24 hours, and too many spots to even count). I started cupramine and raised it to 0.5 ppm. This was on 3/9.
All seems ok but one Bellus hasn't eaten. (She was eating well previously). I was doing some reading last night and found these 2 threads, which indicate that cupramine can be slightly lower than I've been targeting. After a water change last night my final QT reading was 0.43 - which is strange because the QT tested at 0.52 prior to the water change and the new water at 0.50. But whatever. Based on these threads I left it alone. Today, the angel ate for the first time since starting cupramine.
So, is safe/effective to leave my cupramine level slightly lower, if it means the Bellus will eat? The threads I am referencing are a little old. I've tried just about every food, including live brine and live blackworms. The food she ate tonight was a mix made for angelfish and butterflies that she previously wouldn't eat.
TIA,
Cindy

Cupramine dosing question.
I'm battling velvet. I've just set up a qt tank, 38 gallons of water (40 gallon tank). The directions say to add 1 ml for every 10.5 gallons, then again in 48hours. I'm assuming to get to the desired level slowly. With velvet being so fast to kill, Ive been told to have get the copper level in...

Dosing Cupramine?
Hey, Quick question. Cupramine directions say to redose every 48 hrs at 20 drops per 10.5 gallons. I do not mean to sound dumb here but do I take these directions literally and dose 20 drops per 10.5 gallons every 48 hrs to maintain therapeutic concentration? Just wanting to make sure...
