Hi all, I treated my FOWLR DT with cupramine close to 14 days ago. Since then I have read various posts about how long to allow the treatment in the system, which vary from 14 to 30 days. Inside of those posts I have also read that 14 days is not long enough to break the cycle and 30 days is too hard on the fish. I'm trying my best to not guess when it comes to my fish, so any and all advice and experience is greatly appreciated. Monday (2/1) will be officially 14 days of treatment. Thanks in advance!

Most ich can be wiped out if the copoer is maintained above therapeutic levels for 14 days, but there have been some strains that have lasted longer... therefore the recommendation of 30 days.

But the key is that the levels stayed above therapeutic levels and never dropped below it. I don't use cupramine, but i believe that's 0.5ppm. You need to test the levels regularly.

I put all my new fish through 30 days of copper. I've not had any issues, but some fish can be sensitive to it.

I'd shoot for the 30 days and watch the fish closely. They tend to have slightly suppressed feeding, which can be expected... but they still need to be eating. If not eating, or strange behavior occurs, then quick water change is needed.

Thanks Idoc! I've been testing daily and went today to the LFS for a confirmation test. These things are so nuanced but we agreed the reading was .5 to .6. The fish seem happy and are moving around the tank normally and have the same, or improved appetite.
