Have my 260 gallon running at last, and my fish returned home from being held by a friend while I repaired flood damage to my house, including my tank.
Anyways, he wanted to take down his tank and gave me all his aquarium stuff with the deal I take all of it. Which means I ended up with his fully grown midnight clownfish. Ordinarily not a problem, but I have a maroon clownfish barely half the size, and the midnight is constantly beating the tar out of my maroon, despite the massive size of the tank. Which is weird, because they were both stuck in a 55 along with all their current tank mates and weren’t trying to murder one another after the first couple days. But it’s been weeks now, and they’re still fighting despite 5 times the volume.
I know it’s a terrible idea to have different clown species together, but I figured hey, they weren’t having daily cage fights in a 55, so it should be okay. Evidently not. There’s also no shortage of hidey holes or vacant space, there’s only 7 fish in there, and I feed them all regularly.
Anyways, yeah. Is there anything I can do to maybe help chill them out, or is it just a wait them out as they’re still establishing territory? Or should I be sourcing a 30 gallon to give the Midnight its own tank?
