Well absolutely you can, personally I have no future plans to leave the hobby. So I keep a bin of soaking rock just to have it. Toss some lfs live rock in there with it, definitely do a few water changes and it will without a doubt be ready for when you are.

Once in a while give a toss of some food. Just need to spike it with some ammonia every now and then. Alot of people don't realize, the dry rock comes from machined land. Absolutely no idea what kindve junk that rock absorbed or even poluted moisture could've found its way in there. Best to soak it with consistent fresh saltwater to grab the junk out before using.
