Curious how this is possible...

Thanks Randy! I think I'll try to lower it but is really high alk generally a problem with LPS in the first place?

I do not think there is a demonstrated problem with high alk other than precipitation of calcium carbonate, as long as there is sufficient N and P to allow corals to grow tissue as fast as they grow skeletons.

I do not know how they formulate it, or even which amino acids they use.

Some will boost alk. If the pH in the amino acid mix is high, that is one sign, but not the only way it could boost alk.

Would Polyp Booster happen to add alk?

I've recently had to cut my alk dosing down to 10% of whay it was for weeks as it has gone up, i didn't think it was any additives as the only change has been using polyp booster, and Plus NP.

Was dosing 70ml soda ash and calc, now I am at 7ml soda ash and 70ml calc to keep the value the same.

I did google it after reading your post, but no results mention it.

Had no idea aminos would contribute to alk.

I expect it could. If the fatty acids in it are sodium salts, which is likely for solubility, then that will boost alk.

Is it a clear or cloudy liquid?

Dark brown.

Ingredient contents is given in dry weights for fatty and amino acids.

Sounds like this might be it.

Thanks again Randy
