How many fish do you recommend to put in a 220g tank that I will be putting sps corals in

It depends on the type and size of the fish, along with your filtration, footprint, feeding ect ect. There are so many variables! It's just so hard to say X number of fish will work in that size tank.

You can fit quite a substantial amount depending on their size and how they get along with one another, as long as it's not crowded

Unfortunately for angels the list of reef safe angels is pretty slim other then that it depends on how well your actual fish get along as well as what your filtration and feeding habits are going to be. Definitely do ur research and make ur list before getting to crazy and try to add the most peaceful first to allow them to get established before things get crazy

Yeah as far as Angels go it's all a risk, there are exceptions but none of which I own.

I have one 180 with:
Emperor angel, passer angel, queen angel, blue face angel, flame angel, moorish idol, yellow belly hippo tang, Achilles tang, powder blue tang, magnificent foxface, banana wrasse, pink face wrasse, red coris wrasse, cleaner wrasse, diamond sleeper goby.

Another with:
Achilles tang, powder blue tang, powder brown tang, chevron tang, kole tang, sohal tang, purple tang, desjarini Sailfin tang, yellow tang, carribean blue tang, 2 flame Angels, potters angel, flameback angel, Red Sea regal angel, scribbled angel, yellow watchman goby, male blue star leopard wrasse (bipartus), yellow "coris" wrasse, white sand sifting goby, pink bar goby, copperband butterfly.

Most of these fish are very small so it looks less crowded than it reads but I have no real issues. The biggest struggle is the Achilles and powder blues sometimes you have to mix and move to find two that get along. Need to be similar in temperament or else one will get steamrolled. Also ich is a huge problem with that many fish so proper qt and medication procedures prior to addition to the tank is critical.

The second 180 is a reef but I don't keep any expensive coral so the Angels nipping doesn't bother me much.

The first 180 has star polyps and a couple giant Devils hand.

I also have a 125 with lots of fairy wrasse, 5 leopard wrasse species, a blonde naso tang, a matted filefish, and a radiant wrasse.

I might also add that I don't recommend overstocking to the degree I do. I have two 10' tanks in the works for the new house. As fish outgrow my tanks I also sell them to hobbyists with 8-10' tanks and trade for smaller fish. My large angel are all under 5" with the exception of the emperor who is 7"
