Hey reefing family, another lighting question!

My buddy is selling a current USA outter orbit MH/T5/LED fixture for $100, he’s agreed to trade me my jebao DP-4 dosing pump that’s been collecting dust since I got a calcium reactor and DOS.

It’s a 60 inch version of the light with 2 halides in the centre, 4 48inch t5 lights, and some LED “moonlights”.

I wanted to add t5 to my tank, which is SPS dominated.

Does any one know what wattage halide bulbs these things take? I’ve seen the 72inch one takes 250 watt bulbs, and then I’ve seen one that says 150 watt bulbs.

Or would I be better off removing the halide stuff, and retro fitting my hydra 26HD into it.

If it has bulbs I would look at those to see if it has the wattage on them, if not I'd take it apart and look at the ballast inside. Personally I'd keep the halides.

I'm very partial to halides but I try to remain neutral with lighting. While I haven't used hydras, I've seen beautiful tanks with them. I'd say give the halides a try for a while and if it doesn't work for you then switch them.

if the bulbs don’t say. Whatever is written on these will tell you. Give the mh a go. Coming from led experience only you may not like them though. Replace whatever bulbs are in there with Hamilton 20k. Phoenix 14k are the gold standard of DE bulbs...but I’d bet my left pinky you’d find them underwhelming. So many threads lately of led only users trying Phoenix bulbs to experiment and complaining of them Being too “yellow”

Actually, I came from a T5 background. This is my first tank with LED.

My old 180, 250, 150 and 75 were all t5
