Hi everyone,

Has anyone had any experience with Current USA lighting? I want to purchase a LED light fixture and bracket from since I have 3 pumps from them right now. I have hammers, frogspawns, a clam, zoes, GSP, and a cup coral in my tank.

I have a 40-gallon breeder tank and currently using a T5 4 bulb 39W fixture.

Here is the light fixture:

Please send recommendations to others!

I use several of them on my QTs. One is a fish QT the other is a coral QT. Light output is OK. The corals: soft, LPS, SPS all do fine under the lights. I do use eggcrate to move the higher light demanding corals up closer to the lights. Like the programability of them. Very reliable. I do use the Current USA Loop Powerhead system on my 90. Really like it.

So this is the one I'm more likely to go for, seeing as its a full spectrum dual light fixture.

"Current USA Orbit Marine IC PRO Dual LED Reef Aquarium Light | Wireless Light and Pump Controller | Loop App - Bluetooth"

Yes, I took a long look at those ^^^ before I ended up buying SB Reeflights Ultra for my 90. It's 24" deep and there was concern that the Current USA units would work for my tank. For a 40 that's shallower, I'd give it a try.

I want something with a little more punch and that isn't bulky. I am just looking at the moment and getting recommendations. I will probably stay with my T5 for a while.

27 or 36 watts with the current usa led fixture won't have as much punch as your 156 watts of T5.

There are reasons that folks like LEDs, but you won't be upgrading PAR in this case.

Everybody online that talks about their reefbreeders is really happy with them. More expensive than black boxes, but not nearly as expensive as some of the fancy brands, and supposedly really nice fixtures.

With you current live stock including a tridacna I'd suggest sticking with the T5 unless you upgrade to a better led fixture or add too the T5 lights.

Ya I wanted to keep the T5s and get like an extra LED or something to add to it. I was looking at the t5-led combo fixtures on brs.

Even the Ic pro lights? What would you suggest getting then?
Something that actually is the spectrum the corals need. Not a white and a blue led. Any of the big brands are great and have great results and the lights hold their value for resale.

I don’t have experience with clams. I used an 18” and 24” Current USA light on my IM 20. Grew the coral I had great. Mainly LPS, but some SPS. That’s a shallow tank though. I had it connected with 3 power heads to the loop.

I would keep the T5's and add some kind of LED as well.
I like the combo of the 2.

Reefbrite XHO strip is what I personally would add.

Currents lights are ok, softies would fine, clam most likely not
