Anyone ever run current USA lights in a reef tank with good growth? I know usually everyone runs the t5’s and all that or the kessil lights. Ai prime but I was wondering if anyone had luck with the current USA lights.

I used them for awhile, they were ok for softies and some LPS, but that was mid tank and up on my 75. Fwiw i wish i would have just gotten a 4 bulb t5 right off the rip and cried only once.

I got a 40 gallon breeder aio

I used one on my first 10 gal tank. Worked fine mounted right above the tank for zoas/lps.
I was thinking I probably would be okay with most softies maybe a rock nem torches hammers. But for the most part I’m not a huge fan of the sps so I figured it would be okay I just like to hear what everyone else has to say about it too

If it's what you have already and are ok with softies and LPS it will work. But if you're looking to buy a light an aquatic life t5 hybrid is nice, you can add the current usa lights to the center to supplement color and add the shimmer

Do they make the tank temp shoot up? The t5?

Most people say they will, how much depends on if you have a canopy or not, and how cool you keep your house. For instance I live in FL and still run heaters on my tank because I keep the house at 73.

Our house stays high 60 low 70 and I have a glass top no canopy glass top so the water doesn’t splash out of the tank

Run the water level a little lower and remove the top. When water and salt spray gets on the glass top it diminishes par significantly

Which Current lights are you talking about? Current Orbit Marine pro are strong enough. There are also the IC version which are about the same. The other Current models are probably not worth using for LPS or SPS unless for actinic supplement.

Used this setup for a while when my hydra 26 crapped out. Have a 24in fixture about 12 in over the water. Current light was basically just useful for some ramp up/down at that height and to give some shimmer

I’m not sure how I would do that. The water level in my display is pretty much always the same because I have the aio. All the water evaporates in the back. Idk why but how would I go about lowering it in the display without affecting the back side

I have the IC loop lights. I like them. I have zoas and a frammer. They seem to be doing fine. I’m still getting my tank balanced but have seen some growth in my palythoa and the frammer. They could be stronger but for what I wanted they are fine.
