While that light might be sufficient for corals that require low light, it is not bright enough to support light loving corals and clams. At least they are not one of the shady businesses that try to dupe the public. It is stated right in their ad. I have one over a shrimp breeding tank, pretty cool light. I found that even soft corals will reach for the light as if light deprived. 144 LED's only drawing 36 watts should tell you something. Read ad here:
Current USA Orbit Marine LED Lighting Fixtures

I purchased the 36" model and was advised on another forum that it would be best for LPS and softies. It is not yet in use as I'm currently waiting for other orders to arrive for completing my upgrade.

Any recommendations on a better brand or model?
Just need the feature to set a timer, with a moon light.
Currently im turning off the lights at night? how bad is that?

How is this for a 29 gallon?

The Current USA Orbit Marine LED 48-60" is a great choice for aquarium applications where high PAR values aren’t needed—marine fish, soft corals and some LPS corals. The LEDs come in four color temperatures—8,000K, 12,000K, 445nm with UV and 460nm blue. This 46 Watt LED light could be used as a main light or as a supplemental light. At only 3.5" wide you can easily fit more that one on your tank.

What sets apart this light from the many similar fixtures on the market is the included Current USA Ramp Timer Pro—a timer that also can be programmed to ramp up the light in the morning, ramp it down at night and turn on the moonlights. There are also color adjustment capabilities and on-demand storm, cloud cover and lighting settings.

Features:
  • Dimensions: 46.8" X 3.5" X .44". The adjustable docking mounts can expand to 60 inches.
  • 46 Watts. 48X 445nm LEDs. 48X 460nm LEDs. 60X 12K LEDs. 36X 8,800L LEDs.
  • Includes Ramp Timer Pro with remote control

For Softies and not so demanding LPS will be ok. I just ordered this and coming in today but I still have a T5 dual lamp just in case this if this is not sufficient light. I really like its features & hope it will all work well.

if it is for regular size 29g it will be the 24"-36"

I just put one on my 60 but it's shallow at 16". I love the look, the controls, the fact it only uses one outlet, and no fans. My tank looks a lot nicer imo, but I only plan to have fish and some softies.

wrong thread sorry for bumping
