Looks like my skimmer pump is on its way out, as I've nearly completely closed skimmer outflow to even pull any skimmate. My phosphates are on the rise as well.

Does anyone know the pump model on the older Bubble Magus Curve 7 Elites? This would be the model before they moved the Elites to the Sicce pumps. I've searched on the Bubble Magus site and they don't even list the Elite Models.

Would the Sicce pump in the current model be compatible? Should I start researching for a skimmer replacement?

Thanks much!

Bit of an update here.

Did a good but of google sleuthing, and trying to match the worn label on the pump within the skimmer to find out that the older models use an Atman pump of which Bubble Magus makes an equivalent pump, the Rock SP2000. About $55 - 75 to replace and readily available online.

I also had a fiasco with a water change this weekend where I forgot to turn the skimmer off which caused a lot of stored skimmate to escape back into the tank. Basically, my sump had a foam party and the rest of the day was spent expediting nutrient export by overskimming and shop vacuuming foam spilling out of the skimmer. Did another 15% WC at the end of it all and tank is looking good. Turns out the skimmer is still working to some level!

This sort of underscored a few issues I've had with the skimmer over the long-run and I decided I wanted a few more stopgaps to protect the stand and my floor from overflow. In the end decided to order a Maxspect Jump SK400 (was super tempted to get the Aeraqua, but it's likely too large for my sump and too strong for my 80 gallon).

Having a reactor that you can run carbon in can be a lifesaver sometimes. I would try to contact BM and see if you can get the pump upgrade and new bottom plate, which is a good skimmer, and well make a great backup skimmer as well.

Thanks for the recommendation. I would have felt a bit more secure with the WC aftermath with more carbon in the mix, but other than initially yellow'ish water, everything thankfully seemed to make it through without any ill effects.

If I had the room to run a reactor in-sump, I'd definitely do it, maybe more likely as an Ozone reactor. I'm currently running Purit in a media cup off the overflow and it seems to be working well for me.
