I am ready to put my tank on the stand. 60" x 24" x 27" high all sides are 3/4" glass, bottom is 5/8" 3/4" plywood on top of stand. Is it necessary to put styrofoam under the tank??

I would. Water weights about 8 pounds per gallon. Plus tank. Without the cushion the glass will stress.

You can use this.

i've also heard of yoga mats and those foam camping mats being used. basically you want something soft enough to conform to the stand imperfections, but firm enough to not totally compress when the tank is filled.

Edit: I missed the post that stated this is a frameless tank. Please ignore the previous comment I had about framed tanks not requiring a mat.
