SO PART TWO IS ACTUALLY PART ONE HAHA little mistake. so this is my current build. its a 30 gallon shallow this is dry fitted with teflon tape just for the test that why some joints are leaking. I designed and built the sump out of 1/4" cast acrylic. THE SCRUBBER IS VERY CRUDE RIGHT NOW. still not sure if I should run it on a seperate pump, what do you think? Also are there supposed to be bubbles coming out of the main siphon?? I thought if it was full siphon it should have no bubbles? I had a hard time fine tuning it with the scrubber hooked up to the return, the scrubbers valve had a big part to play What are your thoughts? plumbing will be with red pvc

ps. sorry for iphone quality

You should extend the drain lines to about an inch below the water level in the sump. The bubbles are just a result in the water splashing out of the drain pipe into the sump.

Yea i fgured that might helped i had planned to make a 1 1/2" baffle to have the pipes in at least an inch of water but got lazy. So is there always going to be bubbles? and what do you think about running he scrubber off the return?

Once you have the baffle in the bubble will go away after a few minutes...at least that's what I've experienced. My current and last two tanks used the herbie overflows. Not sure on the scrubber...I've never used a manifold.

You might also get less bubbles if you increase the height of the main drain a little. With it that low you'll get the waterfall effect a little longer while the overflow box tries to fill up...all those bubble will keep getting sucked down the drain.

I had it running for about an hour and adjust the main drain, scrubber, and pump and let them run for a few minutes each time to see if the bubbles would go away. I figure its the baffle needed and the height of the standpipes that are effecting that. The valves are globe valve btw Im wondering if that is a factor as well.

I don't think the valve's would affect something like that.
