Custom Aquarium Canopy

I just picked up my first reef tank today. I want to put it right next to my TV and use an AI prime light. My problem is that I get migraines from exposed pendant lights.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m thinking a canopy would be best, measurements are 19in wide x 18.5in deep including the overflow.

Welcome to R2R!!! Canopies and light shields can both help to direct the light.

Welcome!!! Yes, a canopy is really a great option. Personally, I do not like the exposed light and open top look. Yes, it does help with cooling and easy access but the light spill and industrialish look of the lights never appealed to me. Added benefit of a hood is you don't need to worry about fish suicides.

Welcome to R2R. A canopy sounds the simplest way to cover. Not sure about the ‘next to the tv’ idea. Keep safe.

Welcome to R2R! I love having a canopy. My original reef tank was a 46-gallon bowfront and my son actually designed and built the canopy, which was challenging for a bowfront! I bet you could find some nice designs online, and maybe even find someone to build one (if you're not the handyman type). My LED fixture is mounted inside my current canopy on my 90. The added benefit is I love the wrasse species and I have yet to have a wrasse jump with the canopy in place (I had several jumpers before the canopy). Good luck!!
