I am looking to setup a 150gallon 60x24x24 aquarium I am thinking about having stand built 44"high. Any suggestions or thoughts on height of stand?

I like them higher. Easier to get equipment under and much easier for viewing sitting or standing. Mine are around 40" and I can stand next to the tank and watch it with out stooping my shoulders.

I have two one made out of wood and one made out of metal and the metal is 38 inches high while the wood one is a total 44 inches tall but the Tank sits 4 inches below that.

Biggest concern with both tanks is the fact that I need to step ladder to get high enough to reach all the way down to the bottom and on the 150 I have since it's a 36 tall I literally have to use long tongs to get at anything to the bottom.

Tanks that sit at that height are great for viewing, either for yourself or for a visitor that come over as they don't bend over. This becomes apparent when you go to a local fish store as you can see that heights is dependent upon their stands and everybody bends over to see any inhabitants in the tank. At the end it's a personal preference thing what with a stand at that height but they are much better for viewing and storing tall equipment like a skimmers.

I agree on higher stands. After having a 75 on a short stand for about a year it was a total pain to have to bend over or crouch to see everything. My current build is a 150 (48"×24×30") and a 125 (72×18×24) and they are both going on a 42" stand we have been building on and off for about a month. It's going to be a total pain in the butt for maintenance but being able to just see everything perfectly while standing and having tons of space underneath is going to be worth the extra work.[emoji1]

The two custom stands I have are at 38 and 39 inches. (FYI, the stock stand was at 32 inches....you had to bend over to see it.) Great for standing while looking.....slightly high when sitting. When sitting, you now see the mirrored top water surface because you're looking up. I'm still happy with the heights I have.

As mentioned, 44 inch stand plus 24 inch tank is putting the top of the tank at 68 inches....that's high. Definitely a step stool or small ladder to get into it.

I guess I'm unique in that I never stand and look at my aquarium. Usually because I look at it for a very long time and get tired of standing. Also not very tall so I have to be able to clean the bottom without a ladder

I built a 34" high stand for a 40g breeder. I can sit and look at the tank at eye level and also can reach every area in the tank. Fwiw, I'm 5'6".

Also 5'6" ... 42 would just be too tall for me. I wouldn't be able to get inside without a step stool. My stand is 36"

Ideal height depends on your height IMO.

I really like the idea of having it more at eye level. Also slightly out of reach of small kids that would be tempted to smack glass. I dont mind having to use step ladder to do maintenance on aquarium.
