Can anyone recommend a business that custom cuts acrylic?

Thanks.

Dom

I’ve ordered custom cut acrylic from Tap Plastics...

Yes... I was looking at them today. The prices are reasonable, but after shipping, it isn't such a good deal.

Location? There are usually some smaller mom-n-pop local businesses that have good prices.

All the local places here are glass. I'm building an all in one so I can't use glass. I don't want light spilling into the filter areas.

Jeff @ lifereef will take care of ya, I’ve always had excellent pieces from him- and great communication to boot.

Also- you can do a LOT with a scorer, scroll saw w/ plexi blade and water. Just clamp your acrylic to a thin sheet of ply to reinforce (fully), have someone spray water around the saw and DONT STOP, take your time- it won’t bind if you’re full bore on the jig. For straight cuts a Tsquare & scorer (I used one for tile-heavy duty)and patience will do ya just fine.
I successfully modified a ghost oF from reef savvy (foolish but it turned out :)

Depends what you are trying to do. I can make square cuts in acrylic sheet easily on my tablesaw with a laminates blade. Wood routers work fine as well. Cutting larger diameter tube can be harder. You can make jigs for the job but usually I just order larger diameter tube precut.

Is there anyone you guys know of that can fabricate large acrylic cylinders? I imagine the shipping would probably kill it. I am in WI so IL would also be very feasible.

What exactly are you looking to get cut?

I'm planning a new build which requires (2) pieces of black acrylic, dimensions:

(11 7/8 wide) x (14 5/8 high) x (3/8 thick).

It is going to be an All-In-One. The Black acrylic sheets are going to siliconed in to create 2 chambers, on e on each side of a 48" tank.

I am going to connect these chambers with PVC piping under the sanded of the display to that I can maintain a symmetrical appearance to the tank.

Ask for Dan at Advanced Acrylics in Anaheim CA. Depending on what you need he may be up for it. Just picked up a custom ATO from him. Great stuff.

I'll check them out!

I was feeling a bit lazy, so I though if it was pre-cut, I could get right into installation when it arrived.

Man I’d shoot Jeff [email protected] an email with your dimensions/general idea and he’ll make it fly- he did right by me on a b&w skimtrooper
