Custom Lagoon Book End Tank Design with Waterfall

Any body want to bring over two hundred gallons of salt water? . She’s ready for water. I just need to run the light wires through the wall and then we can fill her up. The canopy and stand should be ready by the end of the month.

I love the scape with the Stax Rock. I almost went with the same style you have gone with where they are spread out like substrate but I was worried about trapping detritus. How are you going to handle that?

I’m hoping the flow helps but I do expect that it will require a bit of maintenance. Time will tell. I plan on doing weekly water changes so I expect that I will be syphoning the rock floor.

I put most of my Stax on eggcrate risers so there could be flow underneath. You have a lot of rock in there so that maintenance might not be too much fun. Have you epoxied that all together yet or is it just stacked loose?

No epoxy yet.

Hey Omar,
Looks great! How's the waterfall going to work? I imagined a cutout middle portion of the center tank on each side or a slide that would guide the water to the other tanks, but I am not seeing that. What's the plan? Fill this puppy up and make a movie so we can see it!

Yes. Planning to draw up. I’ve heard that this could be a problem as well. It’s something I’ve got to work through. I don’t think drawing the water up is the problem. I think starting the pumps dry is the concern. I guess I should call eco tech and get their input before I glue things together.

What did they say?

. It wasn’t going to work. I moved two into the sump and the larger M1 into the electronics cabinet.

That’s what I suspected. Pumps with more output tend to have larger tolerances around the impeller, to decrease friction etc. They cannot prime themselves

She’s alive and filled up. Still have some work to do and I’m not sure which cycle method I’m going to choose. I most likely will have the canopy and cabinet done in January.
