I wanted to post a pic of a mount I made for my Radion xr30w. I recently purchased this light from another local reefer here in Houston getting out of the hobby. He had a canopy system so he didn't have a mount to go on the back for my IM 30L. I looked at the Radion mounting arms and they just seemed a bit expensive compared to the AI arm I had just purchased when I setup my tank. Since I am a DIY kind of person I came up with this design. Overall it cost me ~$30 to make by the time I bought the steel, hardware and paint (beer money excluded of course). The actual arm and mounting plate was done in an evening but it took about a week to finish because I did several coats of paint and sanded in between.
Everything was purchased from the Orange big box store. I used a 2' x 2', 1/8" plate to cut the template for the bracket. Then I picked up a 3' piece of 1/4" bar stock for the vertical bracket. I heated that up with a torch and bent 2 45 degree angles to get it 8" off the water. Used some wood insert nuts to be able to screw the bracket into the back of the stand. I didn't want to have anything hanging off of the glass to give me more room in the back chambers of my tank.
Overall I'm happy with the look. Thought it looked "close" to a store bought mount....
