My wife has ok'd me getting a bigger tank (5-6 foot) but she wants a stand that will go with our furniture, which apparently is "mid century modern". She showed me some examples but I don't think I've ever seen a fish tank stand in a similar style. Are there places that make custom stands? I looked at some examples on glasscages or other similar venues but didn't see anything comparable to what my wife was hoping for.

Talk to Joe at Glasscages , they can make anything you want... :)

You could look up local carpenters, I’m sure they can build something satisfactory as long as you’re clear about weight bearing requirements and budget isn’t a big concern

Find a local cabinet shop. They can build anything you need.

I was a custom cabinetmaker for 20 years or so and I built the stand for my 55g back in 1999 which I still have today.

thanks @fishguy242 for the mention.

@Areseebee, so appreciate that ya checked out our website. Yes we can do total custom in our furniture shop. Let me know if you wanna chat.

To get into the real mid-century modern, your wife might want a raised cabinet on chrome legs. Look for someone to engineer you a steel stand and then get a cabinetry person to build a cabinet in and around the top. Steel will give you the ability to make more unconventional shapes rather than just a reactangular box.
