I'm having a LifeReef sump made for new tank... and there will be a set of 3 reactors that are connected to a manifold and I can use them or not.

The tank is 150 gallons and I will have a VorTech M1 pump for the return.

My question is should I just add another manifold and let the pump run the return and the reactors or should I just get a separate pump?

Any help is appreciated...

Personally I like having redundancy in my system...So I am going to say two pumps. If your return pump goes out you could always use the one from the reactor temporarily. :)

I run everything off of one pump now, but that results in having to "balance" the manifold outputs to get consistent output from each item which is a problem when you speed up or slow down the return pump for feeding or whatever. I suggest not doing this. I would get another M1 and have it run your manifold. Then you also have a spare main pump if you ever need it.

My next system will have two DC return pumps for redundancy and then another pump to run a manifold. To get redundancy (the return pumps will be L1's) and then have a separate reactor manifold pump (probably an M1) to not have to balance the manifold outputs and a return.
