So, if you were doing a custom tank, what would you go with? Starfire glass Or acrylic? I'm gonna do a 40x30x20 with external overflow.... Just can't decide what to go with... What are yalls personal opinions and reasons why?

If only someone would invent glass that had the properties of acrylic :).. Weight, strength and insulating properties all make acrylic a good choice but for scratch resistance and clarity you just can't beat glass.

Prefer glass but low iron apparently scratches more than regular but still scratches more than Regular glass.

I wish my tank was starfire. If I was having a tank made for me I would make all visible sides starfire. I have had 2 acrylic tanks and it doesn't matter how careful you are, you will scratch it at some point. The plus side is you can buff out acrylic very easily, but I still will vote for glass any day:)

'I have a Starfire tank. There is a slight blue cast to Starfire seen edge on. But I don't see that looking through the glass. My quarantine tank is normal glass and has a marked green tint to it. Acrylic has many pluses but it does scratch very easily.

I just built a custom tank and went regular glass and it looks great. Starfire scratches easily and is more expensive for not much value added to the tank

I have had both and I would never do acrylic again. Other than a sump. All you need is one piece of sand to put a giant scratch in your tank . and over time mine kinda yellowed a little.
