Custom tank

Just purchased a 96x30x28 tank with external overflow to be used for a mixed reef. Interested in using the bean animal method for the overflow. Planning for 3 drain holes, and 2 return. What size should they be? I'm thinking 1.5in drain and 1in returns. Is this a good idea?
