I am currently in the process of planning my tank upgrade and I was wondering if anyone had any experience purchasing a large aquarium form CustomAquariums.com. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I was going to purchase a 450 gallon aquarium from them but after poor communication and them not wanting to send drawings of dimensions of tank and hole placement and my contractor wanting a drawing from them to build a proper stand to hold there tank they refused to send a stand drawing which was unbelievable to me as to why you would not want to send a drawing for a steel stand to support an aquarium I was fixing to pay 3000 dollars for. Unfortunately even after speaking with them and expressing my concerns and I quote "we cannot send you a drawing of either and if that's a deal breaker for you purchasing an aquarium from us then so be it." I decided that even though they are cheaper by 50% then the other more popular tank builders I'll just save more money up and enjoy my 240 gallon till I can go with them. You asked for a review that's my experience with them sorry I never made it to getting a tank from them but that's how my experience was

I agree with the above statement. I as well tried to get drawings so i could have a stand built as well for a 600 g fowlr and they wouldn't do it. Don't see too many positive reviews. Cheaper is not always better

Should we post our review over there rev or was I out of line with my review I'm confused....

As I don't have any first hand experience with their tanks yet (but I will) I would recommend Coast 2 Coast out of New Jersey. Their customer support has been outstanding. I have not ordered a tank from them yet, however I have emailed back and forth for quotes as I am planning my tank. They have always responded in record time. They even emailed me out of the blue asking how my planning was going and if they could help at all. They have much quicker turn around times than ReefSavvy I think 8 weeks. They claim to only use glass from the USA, and another member mentioned the use a proprietary silicone. Prices seem on par with other high end custom builders.

Your ok to post it here, @revhtree was just saying to also post in the showcase for that store. Although I do not see a showcase created for said store yet.

A friend of mine got a 36×48×30 peninsula tank from them last year, it's very well build with black silicone seals. I has 2 of their H2O overflows on it which are angled about 20°s off the back. He also purchased a stand from them and it's very solid. That being said, I thought I'd give them a shot, I ordered a tank from them, I haven't heard back from them in a couple weeks, I sent an email last Friday, still no word. I'm just curious when my tank will be done, it's been 4 weeks since I placed my order, they gave me an estimate time of 4 weeks. I'm at a standstill bc I haven't heard back from them and there hasn't been any transaction with my credit card either, so I'm left wandering if I should wait on them or just go with someone else.

Kind of disappointed to read this. I was going to buy my next tank from them. I heard the customer service can be spotty. At a crossroads now... Don't know what I'm gonna do for another tank.

@Maximizer I was in the same place when I read this. After reading this my mind has been made up for me. When I decided to set up a new system I contacted, Miracles, Coast 2 Coast, and ReefSavvy all responded quickly. Miracles gave me the best quote. C2C the best customer service. All vendor communication was through email. ReefSavvy the longest turn around time. Of all 3 I'm gonna go C2C, as a former craftsman I feel the best thing to do is help put some food in the mouths of my fellow countrymen/women. I did submit requests for quotes with a few other companies and never heard from them. I have no affiliation with C2C.

Appreciate the insight. I'm going to start talking to other builders as well. I think the only reason I liked them was because they're prices were good but I like quality better lol what size tank did you order from c2c?

I have not ordered yet, starting to get equipment together though. I'm looking at a 48"x24"x24" euro braced, think I'm going to use regular glass Starphire ups the price a few hundred clams. Was thinking about a synergy overflow, but C2C makes an external glass overflow(they call it a scupper box) that basically does the same thing but there is nothing inside the tank. It's also permanent and does not use any bulkheads.

That overflow sounds impressive. I've never seen starfire glass so I don't really know if I want it or not

It's much more clear than "regular" glass, has less of a blue/green hue to it. However I have read that it is a little bit "softer" and scratches easier than typical glass. The price increase at C2C to use it was substantial like $400.00 more.

Was that for all sides or just one side?

3 I believe, my system is going to be a peninsula so 2 large and 1 small panel. I'm going to go with regular glass as the price will be upwards of 2K for the tank itself.
