Cut housing on AI hydra 26

Has anyone ever cut the housing on an AI hydra 26.... I’m trying to retro fit it and it’s too wide so thinking of cutting the housing. Has anyone had success doing this?

Isn’t the Hydra’s body essentially a big heat sink for the LEDs? Depending on how much you’re cutting off, I’d imagine that it would have an adverse effect on proper cooling for the LED diodes, thereby potentially shortening their lifespan.

Either way, be sure the fixture is vented properly in your retrofit.
