I've got a mushroom which is growing nicely. I've now got 5 heads. (whatever you call them).

They're very hard to remove. Is there a technique used to cut them free of rock so I can move a couple to a second location?

If you slice one off the rock, that'll damage it, but it should heal up just fine.

Alternately, you can try to annoy it into letting go. Mushrooms can let go of the rock, as they're corallimorphs, not corals. Point a strong powerhead at them, they'll pop right off. Just keep an eye on them so they don't get blown into the back of the tank.

Better make sure, is this a mushroom?

Yep, and a nice one. They do spread fast under the right conditions, so don't put them anywhere you can't contain them, unless you want them everywhere.

Get a woodworking chisel from harbor freight. Clean it and use it to pare it off the rock. More porous rock you can slice up to an 1/8 in down with just your palm. The mushroom stays attached to what it was you just cut below it
