Cut out overflows?

Trying to run this tank with 10-12 inches of water and just use straight pipes for the overflow and a return pump to constantly circulate the water to a sump.

Tank has glass overflows and also bottom bracing (eurobraced on inside?) Is it safe to use a utility knife to cut out the silicone and remove both of the glass overflow boxes?

The boxes don't add any structural support. I think you could remove them if you cut the silicone from the inside of the boxes.

this is probably stupid but have you checked underneath. Just to be sure that it is one full sheet of glass that is drilled. Kinda weird the way they braced that tank.

No it’s definitely braced inside with an extra “trim”

I think structurally that way would be almost impossible. Boxes extending through the bottom pane?

Going to use the glass as baffles so I can make 2/3 water and the rest dry

Glass cages tank? They use glass overflow baffles and bottom eurobracing. PVC wire saw can help a lot getting g baffles out.

silicone to acrylic might not work. Why not silicone to glass or out bulkheads in the holes and caps on the bulkheads? Just to be safe.
