On some of the corners of my tank there are some small cuts or places where I have slightly rubbed the silicone away. They aren't deep at all and they don't actually cut into the main part of the silicone, just the very edges. Does this matter?

Its been like this for a couple weeks and I don't think its that much of a problem. But I just had to ask to make sure.

I am also getting a new tank in a couple months.

If they are on the inside and look like an extra bead that was smoothed out with a finger then you have nothing to worry about. The structural part is inbetween the 2 panes of glass

You should be fine.

3/4 of my tank looks like that after years of use:)

Thanks. Just had to ask because I get nervous about this kind of stuff.

Gallons and gallons of water make us all nervous.;Jawdrop
