I remember seeing a member of a local forum with a set of coral cutters with 16" handles or grips. Stainless steel and right angle blades to the grips. Has anyone seen these for sale. it would be nice if they made them like the new PVC cutters tighter every squeeze.

I haven't seen anything that large, but I have the brs deluxe fragging kit, and it's great. I find all sorts of uses for the various scrapers and things that until you have a set of tools, you wouldn't realize that you needed them.

amazon or home depot. you can buy the same tools for less because they are not "reef specific"

also check out surgical tools on amazon.

Thanks blebs I bet it was a surgical tool. Probably veterinary bone cutters. I'll start there.

My wife is in the vet field, we went to a vet conference last year and I thought it would be a great place to get some good bone cutters. Either my definition of good is off or I am used to the equipment offered to us. They were selling German made bone cutters for over $150 to start, and these were the discount prices.

what would one call something similar to bone cutters available at Home depot ? I'd like a pair & don't care if they are reef specific .

If I remember right it has been a couple of years, I think he payed around 300$. Trying to cut a frag off of a colony that isnt removable without destroying a beautiful valuable piece is a challenge. I would pay that for a quality tool.

go to the tool section. i found some tool that's the exact same thing for 8 bucks.

they're not called bone cutters there though haha

After using plain old bone cutters a while, you will become a sim-pro pretty quickly. I go to a local swap meet and find all kinds of neat tools for the fish tank. Old dental picks are great for digging encrusting corals out of nooks and crannies. There's one tool booth that has all sizes and shapes of tweezers and hemostats. Good place for magnifying glasses as well. All at swap meet prices. JP
