Cutting bulkhead fittings down safe?

I need some extra clearance with how much my bulkhead fitting sticks out. Is it safe to trim the excess that hangs out? Its the part that hangs in my modular marine overflow.

this end. Figured id cut it in a band saw and clean it up. Need probably a half inch cut down or so.

I have done it, as long as the nut is seated well, you'll be fine

Yes, you can cut off those extra threads.
