I recently became the owner of a roughly 560 gallon acrylic tank measuring 120” long, 30” wide and 36” tall.
The tank is going to be awesome... but the acrylic is only 1” thick. For those dimensions it should be 1.5” according to my calculator. The tank was up and running for a few years at a pet store and never had issues... but the back bottom seam looks pretty bad.
All other seems looks perfect. Does this look like typical crazing for older acrylic or is this due to the stress of undersized acrylic?
Now assuming that I need to shorten the tank to something like 29” then I’m looking at cutting the bottom of the tank off to get rid of that bad seam.
What’s the best way to actually cut this tank down? Router? Saw? I need a perfectly straight cut that’s smooth... but this tank is huge.
