I have a frogspawn that’s possibly developing bjd. I’m doing a 25% wc and want to cut off the infected heads. Because of corona, my lfs is closed and I really have no other options. Would a dremel with a diamond tipped cutting wheel work? I would cut the base some, dunk the piece in a bucket of tank water, then cut some more. I’d also dip after and put the possibly infected piece in my frag tank. I don’t want the disease to spread o my other euphyllias. Please help!

I'm thinking if you try cutting a frog with a dremel tool it isn't going to turn out pretty ;). Sort of like that old joke - what is green and red and goes 200 MPH? A frog in a blender :D. Teasing of course.

I think if you take it out that would work. Also a hack saw if you have one. May have more control with the saw but the dremel tool may be quicker. I can say with my hammers and previous frog spawn I just snapped them off at the base closest to the biggest base. I do not think I'm helping much but possibly do a quick search on youtube or search engine on fragging frogspawn and see what others do.

Best of luck!

Do you just grab the base with your hands or pliers?

I saw a video on YouTube where a guy fragged candy canes with a dremel. Never fragged anything myself but looking to split up some candy canes so was searching.

So I cut it with the dremel and it worked just fine. The main 2 heads are pretty upset right now (sliming shrunk down etc). I chucked one of the infected heads in the trash because it was too far gone. I separated that head from the other one and I hope that one comes back. It looks promising but I might have cut too close to it (there’s a tiny bit of tissue exposed) and put it in the frag tank. I didn’t wanna leave them together because I feared it would be worse for the somewhat healthy one. It really bums me out though because that piece just started looking great and I was very happy with it. It took close to two years to get it how it was. Hopefully the one head and the colony survive. It would be nice to have 2 colonies...
Either will work. Depends on what you are comfortable with though. Have you had a chance to catch any videos from the people who do this more frequently.

A before picture and how it is now. I’ll post more pics later when it opens back up. Do you think it would be safe to throw the one head in the dt? It doesn’t look that bad...
