I have today purchased this piece of tonga plate from a popular auction website.
I was wondering if anyone has any tips or ideas on how to trim the bottom of the stem like bit flat.
I am using it as a base and want it dead flat to attack to some egg crate.

Does a hacksaw with a bimetal blade cut this type of rock ok?

TIA

I would use a grinder if you want the flatten it

I do have a grinder.
What kind of disc would you use?
I know from experience the ones for steel can shatter if misused but they may equally go through this type of soft material like butter.

This tool with a diamond blade cutting wheel will do it. NOT with a carbon wheel, it has to be a metal diamond-edged wheel. A carbon wheel will quickly disintegrate

Be super careful with this tool. You'll lose a finger in a blink of an eye
