Hi all,
Been struggling with what I’m guessing is cyano for a while.
im stuck self isolating so I can’t get to my Lfs go get a triton test or to send one off. My home kits are reading both 0 for nitrates and phosphate. I have ordered a bottle of Cya-no to try. What would be the recommend dose for a 450l tank ?
cant find that information anywhere.
Thanks

I’ve never used cya-no but I have suffered from cyano and dinoflagellates when my nutrients bottomed out for too long. I had to dose potassium nitrate and monopotassium phosphate which made the tank more dirty for a while but cyano and Dinos couldn’t compete and died off. A uv sterilizer may help as well. I had a conch and sea hare that ate cyano. Might be worth a try if you can get one.

Apparently we have to do the two test to apply the cya- no.

Thank you. i did see that calculator but wasnt sure about the Nitrogen part of the calculator and what to enter. i was told that there is a "set dose" for those that dont have a test. just wanted to see if triton can help out befor i used it.

For best results we advise usage after an N-DOC test following the recommendations provided.
If N-DOC test results are not available dose at 1ml per 100L.
Dose rate can be raised to 5ml per 100L.

1. Stop using any Nitrogen based nutrient products during treatment and 7 days after treatment finishes.
2. In absence of N-DOC test maximum length of treatment should be no longer than 1 month.
3. Do not use with high levels of NO2 (>10mg/L)
4. Dose according to N-DOC Lab test recommendations or as per instructions on the bottle.

PLEASE NOTE:

Overdose can promote the growth of algae. Without N-DOC testing, maximum treatment length should be no more than one month.
